lyrics

We get up in the night, can't remember our names. We've been down in the basement ain't seen sunlight in days, and I know you've been trying, trying so hard. Got new tattoos to cover your surgical scars. But it always gets cold in rooms like these and you can't feel a thing in your extremities, and the trash overflows, the smell makes you sick, and the old men around here ain't even got a bucket to kick.

Now you got a crucifix you hanging over your bed, and a wall full of photos of people who've left. Some in the gutter, some in the grave, some you can't even remember their names. And where you've been? Everyone wants to know. Been six whole months since you picked up the phone. You say you got lost, can't remember quite where. The only thing you remember is when you came up for air.

And it's here at the scene of the creme, way back down where all your serenity dies. Your back to the wall, they tell you to climb and the pain will subside, all in due time.

Now there's a house on the edge of this town, where all the blood brothers are fixing to drown. Stupid teenagers with cheap little blades, can't even hurt themselves the right the ways. And their blood turns from blue, to red, to rust. You lose everything if you live long enough. You shake while you wait for the doorbell to ring and you pray for the day that you won't feel a thing.

It's here at the scene of the crime, put all of those bad thoughts right out of your mind, a better man would've just saw the signs and it would all work out fine...

I used to believe that line.
